  • New item Just before Christmas A week before Christmas I was given the go ahead to move into Space A161 at the River at Rancho Mirage. Before the actual move in I conducted the Libation ritual of Washing the floors. Beautiful faux marble floors in black, myriad colors of Grey and solid streaks of white. Then the walls were touched up with sparkling and sanding, later white paint. After the mopping and buffing, a Hopi stick was burnt, with care not to set off the smoke detectors. A Prayer for clear trading and socializing. I closed up for the night planning for the move in the next day. I was in a hurry to install an Exhibit., I have three months in residence at a beautiful section of the River at Rancho Mirage. A soft opening before Christmas was the first objective. Social Media was the vehicle that was used to make the announcement. Made some general post cards with all the pertinent information about the Gallery. In my daily running I would hand them out. Taking on added expense of a Gallery operation has me on edge. My personal life is in shambles, emotionally and financially. But it was a oppertunity that came at the right time to see me thru til the Summer. The beauty of the space is inspiring and mesmerizing at the same time. Right away I began to attract people. The direct opposition of the Watercolors against the Revival Series add an exciting curatorial interest that right begins a conversation about influence, material, medium and career longevity. The experience over the years that had ne taking my work to the Trade Shows is paying off with the layout. Having an inventory of finely framed works make for a special presentation. The soft opening went well and was well attended. no sales however. now i get focused on a Grand Opening for the middle if the January Month. Start up cost has hampered my operational cost. Some sales of open edition prints and note cards is fueling the cash flow. abandoned the Press Conference Idea. not enough lead time. the promised help from the PR department has not respond. Social Media, an email blast and person to person Phone calls became the advertizing campaign.
